Description:
Herbs, culms tufted, branched, erect, to 1 m; nodes glabrous. Leaves 10-30 x 0.4-0.8 cm, glabrous or sparsely hairy; ligule to 0.3 cm. Panicles to 15 cm, contracted. Spikelets oblong-lanceolate, to 0.7 cm; pedicels to 0.2 cm, ciliolate. Lower glume ovate-lanceolate, to 0.7 cm; pedicels to 0.2 cm, ciliolate. Lower glume ovate-lanceolate, to 0.5 cm, 1-veined, upper glume ovate-acuminate, to 0.7 cm, 3-veined, keeled; keel scabrid; sterile lemmas to 0.6 cm, membranous, brown-ciliate, 5-veined, awned; awn to 0.6 cm, fertile lemma to 0.3 cm, 5-7- veined, shortly aristate; palea to 0.2 cm.
