  Description: Trees, to 12 m high; young shoots glabrescent. Leaves simple, scattered near the end of branchlets or alternate spiral, estipulate; petiole 5-18 mm long, slender, grooved above, glabrous; lamina 5-16 x 1.4-4 cm, elliptic, elliptic-lanceolate or narrowly lanceolate, base attenuate or acute, apex acuminate or caudate-acuminate, margin entire, pubescent on both sides when young, glabrous on ageing, coriaceous; lateral nerves 5-13 pairs, pinnate, ascending, prominent, intercostae reticulate, prominent. Flowers bisexual, yellowish, small, 3-4 mm long, in axillary or subterminal racemose panicles of 2.5-5 cm long; peduncle and the pedicels slender; bracts and bracteoles minute; perianth tube short; lobes 6, subequal, in 2 rows; stamens 9 perfect, those of the first and second rows introrse, opposite the perianth lobes, those of the third row opposite the first and extrorse with a pair of stalked glands at the base; ovary half inferior, sessile, 1-celled; ovule 1, pendulous; style curved; stigma depressed capitate. Fruit a drupe, 10-12 mm long, ovoid, pale green, seated on enlarged perianth lobes.
