  Description: Culms tufted, erect, to 70 cm, densely villous below panicle; nodes villous. Leaf-blades involute, 18-36 x 0.4-0.8 cm, abaxially densely tubercled-ciliate, adaxially sparsely tubercled-ciliate or glabrescent; ligule membranous, to 0.05 cm. Panicles to 15 cm, interrupted; axis villous; racemes to 3 cm, rachis villous. Spikelets to 0.7 cm, paired; pedicels unequal. Lower glume elliptic, to 0.65 cm, aristate, 3-5-veined; veins tubercled-ciliate; upper glume elliptic, to 0.7 cm, acute, 5-veined; veins tubercled-ciliate; lower lemma elliptic, to 0.6 cm, acute, 5-veined, scabrid on keel and at apex; palea lanceolate, to 0.45 cm; upper lemma elliptic-oblong, to 0.35 cm, acute, 2-lobed, 5-veined, scaberulous, awned; awn to 0.55 cm; palea to 0.35 cm.
