Description:
Erect, perennial herbs or undershrubs; stems 4-gonous, appressed-hairy. Leaves opposite, 8-20 x 5-10 cm, elliptic-ovate to oblong, narrowed towards the base, acuminate, lineolate, glabrous except strigosely hairy nerves beneath; petiole 2-5 cm long. Flowers in many-flowered cincinni; bracteoles ovate-elliptic, ciliate, appressed-hairy. Outer calyx lobes broadly ovate-rounded, obtuse, denticulate-ciliate, appressedly long-hairy, 2.5-3 x 0.18-2.5 cm; anterior lobes usually bidentate at apex; inner ones linear-lanceolate, ciliate, 1-1.4 cm long. Corolla pale blue, 6-8 cm long. Capsule glabrous, 1.5-1.8 x 0.5-0.6 cm; seeds 4, shaggy with long white hairs when wet.
