Description:
Herbs, culms to 2 m, erect, 3-6 mm wide, hollow, glabrous; internodes 10-18 cm. Leaf-sheaths to 13 cm, glabrous; ligule membranous, to 4 mm, shortly fimbriate; blades oblong, to 25 cm, scaberulous, rounded at base, apex setaceous. Racemes to 10 cm long; rachis straight, 2.5 mm, pilose along margins. Sessile spikelet: to 5 mm. Lower glumes to 4.5 mm, flat at the back, 5-7-nerved, not pitted, 2-keeled, ciliate, apex 2-denate; upper glumes 5 mm, rigid, 3-nerved, ciliate, apex aristate, to 0.5 mm; lower lemma to 4 mm, hyaline, palea 0; upper lemma to 1.5 mm; awn to 2 cm. Caryopsis ellipsoid, 1.5 mm. Pedicelled spikelet to 5 mm.
