Description:
Shrubs, 1.5-3.0 m tall; branches slender, terete, glabrescent. Leaves alternate, 3-foliolate, 3-5 cm long; leaflets 2.5-4.5 x 1.5-3.0 cm, ovate or elliptic-oblong, obtuse-subacute or cuneate at base, acute or obtuse-subacute and apiculate at apex, glabrous; petioles usually longer than the leaflets; stipule minute, obsolete or absent. Racemes elongated, lax, terminal or lateral, 15-30 cm long. Flowers few, ca 3 x 2 cm; pedicels 1.0-1.5 cm long; bracts linear-setaceous, ca 3 mm long, caducous; bracteoles linear, ca 1 mm long, at the middle of the pedicel. Calyx-tube campanulate, ca 4 mm long, lobes subequal, 4-5 mm long, ovate or lanceolate, turbinate, glabrous, bilobed. Petals bright yellow, often marked with red, twice as long as calyx, glabrous; vexillum ovate, ca 2 x 2.5 cm, claw ca 4 mm long; wing petals obovate-oblong, ca 1.8 x 0.7 cm, apex obtuse; keel petals ca 2 x 1.5 cm, the lower side outcurved with a long straight, incurved, untwisted blunt beak. Staminal sheath ca 1 cm long; free filaments 0.6-1.2 cm long; longer anthers oblong, ca 2.5 mm long; shorter anthers ovoid, ca 1 mm long. Ovary oblong, ca 1.5 cm long with elongate stipe, glabrous; style ca 2 cm long, curved; ovules ca 20. Pods oblong-terete, 3.5-5.0 x 0.7-1.0 cm long, faintly nerved, glabrous; stalk 1.0-2.5 cm long, slender; seeds 15-30, reniform, ca. 3 mm long, yellow.
