Description:
Erect branched subshrubs, 1-2 m high, branchlets puberulous. Leaves alternate, 3-foliolate; leaflets 3-7 cm long, elliptic-obovate or obovate, widest at a point 0.6-0.8 cm from base to apex, mostly, rounded, obtuse-rotund or retuse at apex; petiolule ca 2 mm long, woolly petioles ca 5 cm long; stipules filiform, caducous or absent. Racemes terminal and lateral, elongated, up to 30 cm long; peduncles ca 5 cm long; bracts linear, ca 8 mm long, caducous; bracteoles subulate, ca 1.5 mm long, adpressed to calyx; pedicels up to 2 mm long. Flowers in lax racemes, numerous, 1.0-1.5 cm long, closely arranged towards the top. Calyx-tube ca 3 mm long, campanulate, truncate at base and strongly deflexed against the pedicel, lobes lanceolate, 4-5 mm long, acuminate, subequal, adpressed pubescent. Petals yellow, twice as long as calyx; vexillum purplish, oblong-elliptic, ca 1.2 x 0.8 cm, obtuse-retuse at apex, claw ca 3 mm long, glabrous without; wing petals elliptic, ca 1.0 x 0.3 cm; keel petals falcate, ca 1.2 x 0.5 cm, ciliate on both the margins, the lower side outcurved about the middle, with an incurved, untwisted beak. Staminal sheath ca 8 mm long; free filaments 4-8 mm long; longer anthers oblong, ca 2-5 mm long; shorter anthers ovoid, ca 0.5 mm long. Ovary stipitate, oblong, ca 6 mm long, flat, densely pubescent; style ca 1 cm long, curved, pubescent on the inner side; ovules numerous. Pods shortly stipitate, oblong or subcylindric, 3-4 x 0.6-0.7 cm, sometimes slightly curved, deflexed, glabrescent, much exceeding the calyx; seeds 40-50, obliquely-cordiform, ca 3 mm long, dark grey-green or brown, finely papillate.
