Description:
Climbers; branches clothed with rufous hairs. Leaves alternate, up to 7.5 x 3.5 cm, ovate, coriaceous, crenate, prominently reticulate, rusty-pilose on the nerves beneath or on the branchlets. Inflorescence axillary subumbellate racemes on very short peduncles. Flowers small, white; bracts usually small; bracteoles 0. Calyx free, persistent, 4 or 5 lobed. Corolla-tube none or short; petals 5, oblong, gland-dotted. Stamens 4 or 5; filaments inserted on the corolla, short or elongate; anthers ovate-oblong. Ovary ovoid or globose; ovules few on a subglobose placenta; style short; stigma capitate. Fruit a small globose usually 1-seeded berry, .25 inch in diameter; seed globose, hollowed at the base.
