Description:
Perennial erect shrubs, 1-1.75 m high; stem quandrangular, glabrous internode 3-4 cm long; petiole 0.5-1.5 cm. Leaves opposite, 4-9 x 2.5-5 cm, ovate, elliptic, entire caudate, glabrous, lateral nerves 6-7 pairs. Inflorescence terminal or axillary, peduncle 1.5-3 cm long, spikes in close 4-5 cm long panicles; bracts foliaceous, elliptic ovate, caudate, pubescent, nerves dark green and pale or whitish between the nerves, 2-2.5 x 0.8-1 cm; flower bracts foliaceous, glabrous, 1.5-1.8 x 0.8-1 cm; bracteoles lanceolate, acuminate, 0.5 -0.6 x 0.1 cm. Calyx lobes 5, divided half way down, segments unequal, 0.6-0.8 x0.1 cm. Corolla deep blue, l tube ca. 2.5 cm long, minutely pubescent, lobes 5, subequal, glabrous, obovate, ca. 1 x 1 cm; Stamens 2, filaments ca. 0.8 cm, blue, glabrous, anther lobes dorsifixed, ca. 0.2 cm. Ovary ca. 0.4 x 0.1 cm, ellipsoidal; style 3-4 cm hairy.
