Description:
Much branched large shrubs; bud puberulent, parts otherwise glabrous; branches terete, slender, pale brown. Leaves opposite, 3.6-5 x 1.3-3 cm ovate, chartaceous, densely punctuate, base broadly cuneate or obtuse, apex bluntly subacuminate or obtuse; lateral nerves c. 5 pairs, sinuate, arching and branching within the margin but not uniting to from a distinct intramarginal nerve, midrib slender, elevated beneath; petiole 2-3 mm long, short. Flowers 1-3, axillary, white, on -2 cm long very slender peduncles. Calyx -2 mm long, funnel-shaped, lobes 4, 4 x 2 mm, oblong, subacute, reflexed at anthesis. Stamens 5 mm long. Fruit 2.5 cm diameter, depressed-globose, prominently ribbed, succulent, crimson, with small, prominent apical calyx segments.
