Description:
Large climbing shrubs, mature stem corky, branchlets subterete. Leaves opposite, to 11 x 7.5 cm, broadly elliptic, acute or acuminate, base truncate, subcoriaceous, densely tomentose below and sparsely above; lateral nerves 5 or 6 pairs; petiole to 2.5 cm long. Flowers small, in axillary umbellate cymes; peduncle to 1 cm long. Calyx lobes oblong, acute, 1 mm long, corolla campanulate, yellow, 3 mm long, lobes triangular, ciliolate along the margins; corona of fleshy process adnate to the tube. Anthers erect with short membranous appendages, pollen masses erect, attached to the horny pollen carriers by short caudicles. Styles free near the top, apex conical or clavate, exserted above the anthers.
