Description:
Vine; branches glandular-pubescent. Leaves alternate, 3-foliolate, to 15 x 20 cm, subcoriaceous; petiole to 15 cm; stipules lanceolate, 6 mm; terminal leaflet ovate-deltoid, to 10 cm wide; laterals ovate, inaequilateral, to 11 x 8 cm, base obtuse, apex acuminate, apiculate; stipels subulate. Racemes to 20 cm; peduncle 1 2 cm; bracts ovate; bracteoles oblong. Flowers 2.5 cm wide. Calyx-tube campanulate; upper 2 lobes connate; lower 3 free. Corolla purplish, clawed. Standard orbicular, 1.5 x 2.5 cm, auricled with 2 callose appendages on inside base; wings obovate, 1.5 x 0.8 cm; keels oblong, 2.2 x 0.5 cm. Stamens 9+1; sheath 1 cm; filaments unequal. Ovary stipitate, pubescent; style incurved; stigma capitate. Pod oblong-falcate, 5 x 2 cm, tipped by style; seed ovoid, compressed; aril linear.
