  Description: Shrubs; branchlets densely brown tomentose. Leaves opposite, elliptic, elliptic-lanceolate or elliptic-ovate, short acuminate at apex, acute or acuminate at base, slightly incurved at margin, thin coriaceous, glossy, glabrous above, dense tomentose beneath, midrib slender or channelled above; lateral nerves 7-10 pairs, subopposite, subparallel, arcuate, prominently channelled above; nervules parallel, forked, conspicuous beneath; petiole 8-12 mm long, strong, dense tomentose; stipules 4-5 x 4-5 mm, triangular or ovate-lanceolate, pubescent above, velutinous beneath. Flowers in axillary, 4-8 flowered sessile fasicles. Flowers sessile, ± 6 mm long. Hypanthium ± 0.5 mm long, obovoid, glabrous; calyx tube ± 1 x 1.5 mm, pubescent outside; calyx teeth 4, triangular, acute, pubescent above. Corolla tube ± 4 mm long, tomentose above, pubescent or puberulous beneath; lobes 4, ± 1.5 mm long ovate-oblong tomentose above, pubescent or puberulous beneath. Stamens 4, exserted: filaments 1 mm long, glabrous, adnate at throat; anthers 1 mm long, oblong. Ovary 0.5 mm long, obovoid, 3-4 loculed; style 2 mm long, thin, glabrous; lobes 3-4, ± 0.5 mm long, glabrous; disk ± 0.5 mm across, subglobose, smooth. Fruit sessile, 6-7 x 7-8 mm, globose or ovoid, crowned with persistent calyx lobes, 4-ridged, furrowed, black when dry; pericarp thin, sparsely tomentose: mesocarp thin: pyrenes 4, dorsally convex, shallow channelled, ventrally angled, acute at apex, acuminate at base, thick walled, with raphides; seeds 5 mm long, thin, wrinkled, acute at apex.
