  Description: Shrubs or small trees; branchlets subquadrangular. Leaves decussate, 5-8 x 3-4 cm, elliptic-ovate, thin coriaceous, glabrous, cuneate at base, caudate-acuminate at apex, margin not revolute; nerves and intramarginal nerves indistinct; petioles 3-5 mm long, canaliculate above, hemispherical below. Inflorescence axillary/lateral, branched umbellate cymes, up to 1 cm long; peduncles terete, ca 0.5 mm long. Flowers ca 5 mm across, 4-merous; pedicels 1-2 mm long; bracts minute, caducous. Calyx tube cupular, ca 2 mm long; lobes indistinct. Petals 4, blue-purple, ovate-orbicular, ca 1.5 x 1 mm, minutely clawed at base, margin revolute, acute at apex. Disc ray obscure. Stamens 8, incurved in bud; filaments ca 3 mm long; anther lobes oblong, ca 1 mm long, sparsely papillose, unilocular; ovules 6-8, central placentae; style filiform, 4-5 mm long; stigma simple. Berry globose, crowned with calyx lobes; seed 1, pisciform.
