Description:
Trees to 15m; twigs towards apex glabrescent or late glabrescent, striate, 1.5-2 mm diameter. Leaves alternate, 7-10 x 3-5.5 cm, elliptic, or ovate-elliptic or obovate-elliptic, base cuneate, top acute or subobtuse, chartaceous to thinly coriaceous; lower surface drying brown, glabrous or almost so; lateral nerves 7-10 pairs; tertiary venation not much contrasting. Female inflorescence a simple 2-4-flowered wart-like structure ca 1 mm diameter, with a common peduncle 1-1.5 mm long; flowers pubescent with appressed golden-brown hairs 0.1- 0.2 mm; pedicel ca 1 mm long; bracteole caducous; perianth in bud ovoid, ca 5 x 4 mm, valves 3, out-curved in anthesis, spitting perianth to ca 1/3, valves at sutures ca 0.3 mm; ovary ovoid, ca 2.5 mm, minutely pubescent. Fruit 1 or 2 per infructescence; globose, 3.5-4 cm diameter, pericarp rather bony, ca 4 mm thick, outside densely scurfy-pubescent with cinnamon to rusty hairs ca 0.2 mm long; seed globose, 2.4-2.8 cm diameter; colour of aril not recorded; fruit stalk thick, 1-2 mm long.
