Description:
Erect, slender, branched, annual herbs; stem glabrous; internodes long. Leaves opposite, 4-6.5 x 1-1.2 cm, membranous, ovate or elliptic, apex acute or acuminate, base tapering or cuneate, sparsely hairy; petiole ca. 2 cm long; stipules 2 x 5 mm, membranous, with 6-8 slender, hairy teeth. Flowers 3-4 mm long, pink, in terminal or axillary lax cymes; peduncle slender; pedicels short; bracts minute, fimbriate. Calyx ca. 1.5 mm long; lobes 4, linear, elongating in fruit. Corolla tube short, cylindric; lobes 4, spreading. Stamens 4, inserted on corolla tube; anthers 2-celled; cells linear. Style arms 2, feathery. Capsule 2 x 5 mm, compressed, dehiscing from top, appearing like 4 connate cups; seeds 2, semi-ellpsoid, deeply excavated on the face, rugose.
