  Description: Cultivated twiner; branchlets glabrescent. Leaves 10 cm wide, chartaceous; petiole 6 cm; mid-leaflet rhomboid, 8 x 5 cm, base cuneate, apex acuminate; petiolule 3 cm; laterals oblique, 6 x 4 cm, base truncate, apex acute; petiolule 0.4 cm, densely covered with hooked hairs. Pseudoracemes axillary, to 15 cm; peduncle 10 cm; bracteoles 4 mm, about equalling calyx. Calyx 4 mm; upper lip triangular. Corolla bright scarlet; standard 1.9 x 1.2 cm; wings 2.5 x 1.2 cm; keels 1 x 0.5 cm. Stamens 9+1; sheath 0.7 cm. Pod elongate, 15 x 2 cm, densely hairy when young; seeds c. 10, oblong, compressed with convex.
