Description:
Annual herbs, erect and bushy, 20-60 cm high, or twining with 2-3 m long stems. Leaves alternate, trifoliolate; leaflets 6-15 x 3-11 cm, ovate, acute to acuminate at apex, green or purple, stipulate; petiole to 10 cm long, with a marked pulvinus at base. Inflorescens lax, axillary few-flowered racemes; flowers ca. 1 cm long, variegated, white, pink, or purplish. Pods slender, green, or purple, cylindrical or flat, 8-20 x 1-1.5 cm; seeds 4-6-(12), white, red, tan, purple, grey or black, often variegated.
