  Description: Shrub, trunk to 1 m tall. Leaves to 1.5 m long; leaflets linear-lanceolate, to 25 x 1.5 cm, lower ones modified into long spines. Male spadix to 40 cm long, branches crowded towards the apex of peduncle. Female spadix to 1 m long. Fruit oblong, orange-yellow, 1.2 x 0.7 cm.
