Description:
Large shrubs; stem creeping at base, then with many stiff erect branches and very short internodes. Leaves in whorls, 4-8 per node, c. 8 x 2 mm, narrowly linear, apex acute, puberulous. Flowers pinkish, minute in dense, terminal spikes up to 5 cm long; bracts c. 2 mm long, persistent. Calyx c. 2 mm long, campanulate, pubescent; lobes triangular, erect or slightly inflexed. Corolla 1.5-2 mm long; tube c.1mm long; lobes ovate-oblong, obtuse, hairy without. Stamens 4, much exserted, bearded with purple hairs. Style flattened. Nutlets ellipsoid, smooth, yellowish brown.
