Description:
Climbing shrubs. Leaves alternate, trifoliate; leaflets up to 12 x 9 cm, ovate-rhomboid, acute, cuneate or truncate at base, softly hairy, lateral leaflets oblique; bracts lanceolate, subpersistent. Flowers purple in long, axillary, dense racemes; bracteoles 0. Calyx-lobes acuminate, not foliaceous. Petals included or exserted; standard obovate or orbicular with inflexed auricles at the base; wings narrow; keel incurved, hardly beaked. Stamens diadelphous; anthers uniform. Ovary subsessile, usually 2-rarely 1-ovuled; style long, filiform, much incurved; stigma capitate. Pod flat, tawny-villous; seeds 2-4, estrophiolate.
