  Description: Large woody climbing shrubs; stem and peduncles black; leaves imparipinnate; leaflets 3-7, subopposite or alternate 3-7 x 2.5-4 cm, ovate or elliptic, base rounded, apex acute, thin-coriaceous; vein-reticulations prominent. Flowers in axillary panicled cymes. Calyx lobes 5, upto 3 mm long, ovate or orbicular, enlarging in fruits. Petals 5, 3-4 mm long, oval-oblong, yellowish. Stamens 10, alternating ones longer and shorter. Ovary more or less ovoid; ovules 2; style covered with stipitate glands. Follicles 1-2 cm long, oblong, slightly curved, accrescent calyx and basal portion of style persistent. Seed 1, to 1 cm long, obovate; aril red, sheathing at base.
