  Description: Erect branched undershrubs to 2.5 m tall; stem green, densely stellate-pubescent with occasional simple hairs. Leaves 3-5 x 3.5-7 cm, dimorphic, early ones obovate-orbicular, obtuse, retuse or emarginate at apex, later ones ovate or elliptic, obtuse, rounded or acute at base, all crenate-serrate on margin, 3-5-nerved from base, sparsely pubescent below; petiole to 4 cm long; stipules to 1.5 cm long, linear, cauducous. Flowers solitary in the axils of upper leaves, sometimes in apparent terminal racemes due to reduction of distal leaves; pedicel to 1.5 cm long, articulated, densely stellate-hairy. Calyx 5-8 mm across, campanulate, 5-lobed with 10 prominent nerves, stellate-pubescent without and sparsely within; lobes triangular. Corolla 1-1.5 cm across, yellow; petals to 8 mm long, obliquely obovate, truncate or retuse at apex. Staminal column c. 3 mm long, stellate-hairy; antheriferous at apex. Ovary subglobose, stellate-hairy; styles 8-10; stigma capitate, purplish. Mericarps 8-10, trigonous, reticulate, 2-awned. Seeds brownish to black.
