  Description: Small shrubs; branches quandrangular, puberulous, glandular-hairy above, glabrescent below. Leaves opposite, ca 5 x 3 cm, pair unequal, ovate, rounded or cordate at base, prominently serrate at margin, acute at tip, scabrous-hispid above, pubescent beneath; petioles length variable, ca 1 cm long or upper leaves sessile; lateral nerves 4-8 pairs. Inflorescences much interrupted spikes, panicled, hairy, 15-25 cm long; flowers in opposite pairs; bract small, linear, ca 6 mm long, smaller than calyx lobes, early caducous; bracteoles linear, much smaller than calyx, caducous, subscarious, ciliate, glandular-hairy. Calyx with a small tube; lobes unequal, ca 1.2 cm long, one longer than others, linear, rounded or obtuse at apex, ciliate, glandular-hairy. Corolla curved, ca 3 cm long, deep purple, tubular-ventricose; tube a little contracted at base, much smaller than the infated ventricose portion; 5-lobed, lobes orbicular and veined. Stamens 4; sheath slightly hairy; filaments glabrous, inner two shorter. Ovary puberulous at apex; style ca 2.6 cm long, glabrous or slightly hairy below. Capsules ca 1.5 cm long, glandular- pubescent; seeds 4, ovate, ca 4 mm, hairy with a small areole.
