Description:
Gregarious shrub; branchlets angled, glabrous. Leaves elliptic-ovate, to 10 x 2.5 cm, subcoriaceous, base cuneate, margin serrulate, apex acuminate; petiole to 5 cm. Spikes erect, oblong, 6 x 3 cm, terminal or in upper axils; bracts ovate, spathulate below, 2.6 x 1.5 cm; bracteoles 2, linear-lanceolate, 1.3 x 0.2 cm, glabrous. Calyx 1.8 cm, divided nearly to base; lobes 5, lanceolate, 1.6 cm. Corolla blue to violet, 1.5 cm wide; tube 1.2 cm, ventricose above, 2.6 cm; lobes 4, each 1 x 0.8 cm. Stamens 4; filament-pairs 5 and 9 mm; staminode 1. Style 3.5 cm. Capsule ellipsoid, 2 x 0.5 cm; seeds 4.
