  Description: Trees, to 12 m high, bark greyish-brown, smooth; blaze dull yellow; branchlets tetragonous. Leaves simple, opposite, estipulate; petiole 6-25 mm, stout, grooved above; lamina 6-13 x 2.2-8 cm, obovate or obcordate, base cuneate, apex obtuse or retuse, margin entire coriaceous, glabrous, nearly glaucous beneath, pellucid-dotted, lateral nerves 8-10 pairs, pinnate, faint, meeting in loops only, intercostae reticulate, obscure. Flowers bisexual, 2.5 mm across, white, in short branching axillary or lateral cyme; pedicel short; calyx tube turbinate, glabrous, lobes 4, minute, triangular, no thick disc; petals 4, free, orbicular; stamens numerous, bent inwards at the middle when in bud; ovary inferior, 2-celled, ovules many; style 1; stigma simple. Fruit a berry, 5-6 mm across, globose.
