  Description: Climbing subshrubs. Leaves opposite, up to 18 x 10 cm, ovate-deltoid, acuminate, truncate or rounded at base, palmately veined, crenate. Flowers in axillary pendent racemes; bracts conspicuous, 2-2.5 cm across, cordate-orbicular, upper half orange red, lower half pale yellow. Calyx an entire or slightly crenulate ring. Corolla bluish, conspicuous, the tube cylindric or ventricose, curved, the limb oblique; lobes 5, twisted to the left in bud. Stamens 4, didynamous, inserted near the base of the corolla-tube; anthers 2-celled, glabrous with a long spur to each cell; Ovary 2-celled; ovules 2 in each cell. Fruit a capsule, globose below, suddenly narrowed to a barren sword-shaped beak; seeds 2 in each cell, globose.
