Description:
Woody dioecious, perennial climbers; tendrils simple or bifid, elongate. Leaves 8-22 x 4-12 cm, ovate-oblong, base rounded, apex acute, subcoriaceous, trinerved; petiole 4-11 cm long. Flowers small, males arranged in lax pendulous panicles, females racemose. Male flowers: pedicels 4-5 mm long; sepals c. 2 mm long, ovate, acute; petals upto 3.5 x 1.5 mm, oblong, obtuse, buff-coloured. Female flowers: peduncles to 18 cm long; pedicels thick; sepals 3-4 x 3-4 mm, petals 5-7 x 3-4 mm; ovary 8-10 mm long, obconic-cylindric; ovules pendulous, 2-many in each locule; styles 3, apex bifid. Fruit 6-10 x 2.5-3 cm, elongate-cylindric, 3-valved at the truncate apex. Seeds 3-4 x 1-1.3 cm, oblong, compressed, surrounded by a large membranous wing.
