Description:
Scandent; branchlets hirsute. Leaves broad-ovate, to 8 x 7 cm, thick chartaceous, densely golden tomentose below, strigose above, base cordate, apex acute; petiole to 4.5 cm. Cymes axillary, corymbose; peduncle to 6 cm; pedicel to 1 cm; bracts lanceolate, 2.5 x 0.5 cm, hirsute without. Calyx-lobes 5; two longer, lanceolate, 2 x 0.3 cm, three shorter, 1.5 x 0.6 cm. Corolla 5.5 cm wide, reddish with deeper throat; tube 2.5 cm; limb sericeous without. Stamens 5, included, subequal. Ovary 4-celled; ovule 1 per cell. Berry subglobose, 2 cm wide, orange when ripe, enveloped in persistent calyx; seeds 2, oblongish, 9 x 7 cm.
