Description:
Diffuse herbs, branched from near the base; branches radiating, upto 45 cm long, rooting at the nodes. Leaves of the main stem larger, 12-30 x 1-2.2 cm, of the branches smaller, 4-10 x 0.7-1.8 cm, all linear or linear-lanceolate, margins sparsely ciliate towards base, apex acute, nerves 6-11. Panicles terminal, subglobose or subcorymbose, 4-10 flowered; pedicels 3-4 mm long; bracts 4-6 x 4-5 mm, ovate, obtuse. Sepals 3, 3-4.5 x 2-2.5 mm, elliptic, obtuse. Petals 3, blue or purple, 3-4 x 2-2.5 mm, elliptic or obovate, obtuse. Stamens 3; filaments c. 3 mm long, flat, violet with monoliform hairs; staminoides 3. Ovary c. 1.5 mm long, trigonous; style c. 2 mm long; stigma capitate. Capsule 4-5 x 2.5-3.5 mm, 3-gonous, elliptic. Seeds 2-per locule, 2-2.5 x 2-2.5 mm, trigonous, pitted.
