  Description: Erect subshrubs, to 2.5 m tall, mostly unbranched, younger portion densely short-pubescent. Leaves 8-20 x 6.5 - 18 cm, broadly ovate, base cordate or truncate, margin coarsely and irregularly dentate, apex acuminate, basally 3-veined, pubescent, chartaceous; petiole to 18 cm long. Flowers in terminal condensed cymes, short-pedunculate, often subtended by a pair of foliaceous long-stipitate bracts. Calyx 1-1.5 cm long, campanulate, red-purple, with scattered circular glandular disks; lobes 4-8 mm long, lanceolate, acuminate. Corolla white, hypocrateriform, double, very fragrant. Stamens and pistil all modified into supernumerary petals.
