Description:
Annuals. Culms tufted, 20-60 cm high, erect; nodes glabrous. Leaves 4-15 x 0.2-0.5 cm, linear-lanceolate or lanceolate, base rounded, apex acute or acuminate, green or glaucous; ligules truncate, fimbriate, membranous. Panicles 7-14 cm long, lax, grey. Spikelets 3-7 x 0.5-1.5 mm, ovate-oblong, 6-17-flowered, grey. Lower glume 0.5-1 x 0.5 mm, ovate-lanceolate, 1-nerved. Upper glume 1-1.5 x 0.5-1 mm, ovate-lanceolate, 1-nerved. Lemmas 1-1.5 x 0.5-1 mm, ovate-lanceolate, 3-nerved. Paleas c. 1 x 0.5 mm, elliptic-lanceolate, 2-keeled, 2-nerved; keels scabrid. Stamens 3, violet with white connectives. Stigmas white. Grains c. 0.5 mm across, orbicular.
