Description:
Ascending shrubs, upto 2 m high; branches woody, 4-gonous, villous-tomentose with long, spreading, brown hairs. Leaves opposite, 5-12 x 3-6.5 cm, ovate, subacute to subacuminate, rounded or subcordate at base, crenate-serrate, thick, villous-tomentose both sides; petioles 1-2 cm long, tomentose with brown hairs. Flower-whorls dense, many-flowered, subglobose, head-like, 2.5-3 cm in diam., terminal at the end of stem and branches, subtended by a pair of leaves, rarely an additional flower-whorl develops in the next lower axil of leaves. Bracts 8-10 mm long, about as long as calyx, linear-lanceolate, densely long-ciliate. Calyx-tube 8-10 mm long, tubular-campanulate, straight, rather more densely hairy outside above the middle, throat hairy within; mouth truncate; villi dense, shorter than teeth; teeth 10, ca 2.5 mm long, about one-third the length of tube, linear, hairy, spreading. Corolla-tube completely included within the calyx; upper lip densely bearded with long white hairs. Nutlets ca 3 mm long, oblong, smooth.
