Description:
Straggling shrubs or small trees. Leaves opposite, to 7.5 x 2.5 cm. entire, more or less elliptic, obtuse. Flowers in axillary or extra-axillary peduncled cymes; peduncles very short, stout. Sepals 5, imbricate, often unequal. Petals 5, roundish-elliptic, more or less connate at the base with the back of the disk. Stamens 5, inserted on the disk. Ovary free, ovoid or conical, imperfectly 2-3 celled; style short; stigma minutely 2-4 lobed; ovules 2 in each cell, collateral. Capsule narrowly oblong, 1-celled, 2-valved, acute at both ends; seed erect, stipitate.
