Description:
Shrubs. Leaves ovate to ovate-lanceate, 2-5 by 1.3-3 cm, base rounded, apex acute, apiculate, lower surface glaucous, lateral veins c. 6 pairs, forming marginal loops, thick-chartaceous. Male flowers: towards lower leaf-axils, pedicel slender; tepals 4, ovate, margin scarious, acute; stamens 4, anther dehiscence transverse; disc-glands 4, large, tubercled. Female flowers: axillary and terminal, or in drooping racemes; pedicel c. 2 cm long; tepals 6, ovate; disc annular, shallowly 6-lobed; ovary 6-chambered due to false septum; ovule 1 per locule. Capsule subtended by enlarged tepals.
