Description:
Small erect or diffuse herbs, stem sparsely hirsute. Leaves alternate, to 5 x 3 cm, elliptic-ovate, acuminate, base attenuate, densely white tomentose below and hispid above, reticulations invisible on lower surface. Heads homogamous, subtended by small leaves, solitary or few in corymbs, 1.5-2 cm across; peduncles short. Involucral phyllaries many-seriate, outer phyllaries elliptic-oblong, mucronate, densely white tomentose. Corolla bluish-purple, tube slender, 5-lobed. Anthers obtusely auricled at base. Receptacle glabrous. Achenes 8-10 ribbed, glabrous or pubescent; pappus short or long, often caducous.
