  Description: Young shoot, petioles and leaves towards the base pubescent. Leaves 4-8 x 2-5 cm, elliptic-ovate, acute at apex, serrate on margins, glabrous on both sides. Spikes terminal, cylindric, c. 0.3 cm diam., 20-40 cm long. Bracts 0.5-0.7 cm long, linear lanceolate, ciliate on margins. Calyx tubular, narrow, c. 0.5 cm long; lobes 5, minute. Corolla tube c. 0.5 cm long, slightly curved, 5-lobed; lobes blue. Stamens 2, included; staminodes 2. Ovary 2-celled, 0.2-0.3 cm long, elongate; style slender, 0.6-0.7 cm long; stigma capitate. Capsule 0.4-0.5 cm long, cylindric; calyx tube persistent. Capsule spiltting into two 1-seeded pyrenes.
